Michael A. Valverde

Attorney

About

Michael A. Valverde has been a civil litigator since 2011, with significant experience litigating complex, multi-party, construction defect disputes. Prior to working with BBD&G, Mike has appeared and litigated cases throughout central and southern Florida.

Mike was born in North Carolina and lived there and in Michigan throughout his childhood. Mike moved to Florida for college and earned his bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida in 2008. Knowing there was only one law school to choose in Florida, Mike applied only to Florida State University (FSU) and was accepted in 2008, graduating with his juris doctor in 2011. He obtained a book award in Education Law and spent his law school career working for Legal Services of North Florida (LSNF), a Tallahassee-based non-profit organization providing legal services to indigent clients and those in the community that might not otherwise have access to the legal system. Mike credits his time at LSNF as the most fulfilling time in his legal career, and the most formative to the development of his legal philosophy. Mike believes that everyone involved in the legal process, including the parties and the attorneys that represent their interests, should not lose sight of the fact that on each side of a dispute are real people, with mutual value, and because of this he strives to uphold the highest standards of respect and courtesy to attorneys and litigants alike.

Prior to working for BBD&G, Mike began his career in the areas of family law, landlord tenant disputes, and condo/HOA disputes. In 2012, Mike started his own firm with a partner in Orlando, Florida, before eventually moving back to Fort Myers. From 2013 to 2025, Mike served predominantly as of-counsel to a large Florida firm, specializing exclusively in complex construction defect litigation. In June of 2025, Mike joined BBD&G, where he uses his litigation experience to provide BBD&G’s clients with a range of legal services.

Personally, Mike and his wife Maggie met as friends at FSU. When Mike was lucky enough to eventually convince Maggie to go on their first date a few years later, they spent their time between Vero Beach, Florida and Fort Myers where they each lived. Later, they spent several years living in Connecticut and Virginia during Maggie’s medical residency, and married in 2017. They now live in Lutz, Florida with their two children, Maisie (2020) and Ashton (2023). In the few moments when he is not chasing around and being outsmarted by his toddlers, Mike enjoys spending time with Maggie, watching movies and tv, listening to music, and playing video games.
